I thought Katharine did an excellent job with "Something". I don't understand why changing the gender would be considered a bad thing. Many of The Beatles songs would require it, since they were all written by men. And the judges actually encouraged this in seasons past. If Katharine had sang the song originally, note for note, then she would've been criticized for not putting her own spin on it. Which I feel she did, but it was very understated and classy. Beautiful performance, and amazing vocal! I could really feel the emotion...it was great.

I disagree completely with your characterization of Kat's performance of Something. People make gender changes in somgs all the time and I find nothing wrong with it. She gave a remarkable performance to me. She was so controlled, so understated, so professional in her approach. Her vocals were spot on and her emotion was breathtaking. To me she so out classed the "best top 12 ever" by a mile. She was the returning pro and as Simon said to her a long time ago, she "made the others look like good amateurs". It was brilliant and I can't wait to hear what her collaboration with Daviud Foster has in store for us!!

I'm glad you enjoyed it. I find Katherine very attractive and I was rooting for her over Taylor Hicks. But I did not like her song, and that may be less because it was bad and more because I believe Beatles music is holy, or at the very least special, and I don't take modification of it lightly. Katherine did not do the song a lick of justice.

But, as Randy would say, she "can blow."
